A brief description of the Platanistasa village.
 
 
The name Platanistasa indicates an area with many Plane Trees (Platanoi). In the area are cultivated hazelnut trees and vineyards which are hunging from trellis over the yards of the village houses and the village main road.
 

What to see?


Stavros tou Agiasmati: a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The monastery was founded by refugees who came to Cyprus around 1453, after Constantinople fell to the hands of the Ottomans. The wall paintings of the church are dated to the second half of 15th century, and they include a painting of the discovery of the Holy Cross. The church is 8km outside the village.
