A dripping faucet could drive anyone insane, especially when one is trying to asleep. But a dripping faucet is a more serious problem than the loss of sleep.
It means waste of precious water (1faucet x 60drips per minute =21 liters per day). So if a faucet in your house is dripping, fix it.
Read here how you can fix it yourself without needing to call a plumber.
New type of faucet
If the dripping faucet is the type that combines both hot and cold water, all you need to do in order to fix the problem is to replace the cartridge. You can buy a repair kit from any hardware store and follow the instructions.
Classic type of faucet
Before you start fixing a classic faucet with separate hot and cold water handles, turn off the water supply first. To fix the faucet, simply remove the handle and put in a new washer, or if you don’t have a new one, turn the old one over.
Temporary Solution
If the dripping faucet wakes you up in the middle of the night and you don’t want to take out your toolbox, find a string and put it around the mouth of the faucet; let the string trail into the sink. The water will be absorbed by the string, and it will be slipping noiselessly into the sink.

Until you fix the dripping faucet permanently, remember to place a pan under the faucet to collect the dripping water. Instead of pouring the water down the drain, use it to water your plants.
