If you are planning to start your own garden, here are the 8 things you should and shouldn’t do.

1. The first thing to do is decide how much you want to spend and to make a budget.

2. If you are planning any exterior renovations on your house, wait until after the renovations are finished before starting your garden.

3. Choose a garden design that matches the style of your house and decide ahead of time where each plant will be planted.

 4. Each plant and flower needs certain conditions and soil texture to grow so read the plants’ instruction labels and make sure you know the texture of the soil in your garden.

5. Plants and flowers need a lot of sunlight so don’t plant them under trees or other shady areas and don’t plant them in passages or areas where the kids or the pets play.

6. Consider the drainage of your garden and weather conditions such as the wind and the light.

7. To grow healthy plants you need to plant them in areas where they will be getting 5-6 hours of sunlight each day. Make sure to choose plants which resist disease so you will not need to spray them with hazardous chemicals which are dangerous to humans and pets.

8. It will be easier to grow plants and flowers that are native to the area.
