Stressed out? Depressed? Feeling down for no apparent reason? The pace of everyday life can do that to you, but luckily getting rid of the tension can be as easy as A B C.
- Distract the mind
Watch TV (preferably not news reports from warzones) or a movie (comedies are good) on the DVD. Slide back on the couch and relax.
- Stimulate the mind
Unwinding can also be accomplished by engaging in creative actions. Read a book you enjoyed as a child, draw doodles, join a yoga class.
- Take up hobbies
The options are limitless: go see a sporting game, ride your bike, have a gourmet meal –whatever works for you. Everyone needs some down time; try to forget about work and the office.
- “A healthy mind in a healthy body” Studies have shown that exercise helps release chemicals in your body called endorphins, producing a feelgood sensation. Not to mention burning calories (if applicable).
- Just loosen up
Have long conversations with friends or your partner about nothing in particular; play with the cat; take a day (or two) off work; get a power nap.
