A physiotherapist should post his diplomas.

Ask questions! You trust the care of your body.

Be informed about the usage of the particular equipment!

Unfortunately, nowadays there are frauds in every occupation, and due to the lack of occupational inspections, one is whatever he/she registers to be. What happens then, when one registers to be a health care provider like a physiotherapist? There have been numerous reports from patients who fell victims of fraud physiotherapists; the results were very negative.

Εvery graduate physiotherapist knows beforehand the counter effects of the treatment and the equipment he/she will use to treat a problem i.e. he/she knows what to do to avoid inflicting harm on the patient. A graduate physiotherapist has the necessary knowledge to provide the most suitable physiotherapeutic treatment. On the other hand, fraud physiotherapists are not in a position to know the counter effects of the treatment they apply and cannot develop an individual treatment plan that will relieve the patient from the pain and the problem. This causes harm which is often irreversible.

You should, therefore, be very careful to whom you trust the care of your body.

Follow the simple and easy tips below to help you choose the right physiotherapist:

  1. Contact the Association of Physiotherapist of the Ministry of Health and find out whether the physiotherapist you will use is register.

  2. A physiotherapist should post his diplomas, as well as his registration which should include his registration number at a visible place.

  3. Ask questions! It is very important that the physiotherapist explain to you beforehand the treatment he/she will apply, the equipment he/she will be using for the treatment, why he/she is using the particular equipment, application, or treatment, as well as the process for the treatment.

  4. If you feel uncomfortable during the treatment and the physiotherapist had not explained to you beforehand that the treatment may cause you to feel uncomfortable, ask the physiotherapist to explain to you why you feel uncomfortable, or ask him/her to stop the treatment.

  5. A good physiotherapist who is not able to treat a particular problem will refer you to a specialist instead of trying to fix a problem for which he has no training.

  6. A physiotherapist does not specialize in the injections of drugs, the writing of prescription drugs, or the prescription of chemical cocktails.
