I’m sure we all feel a bit down when it comes to moving to a different place. We might be going to a much better one but it’s always hard to leave a piece of your life behind. To make the process less stressful we want to give you some tips on the moving department.

- Moving always takes longer than what you estimate, so it’s recommended to start packing things 8 weeks before you move.
- While you’re packing don’t hesitate to through away stuff that you know are useless to you. When it comes to shipping costs you’ll see that it is expensive to ship boxes to another country and it would be a pity to waste money on things you will never use again. If you just don’t want to throw them away, then give them to someone you know will appreciate them more than you would.
- Remember that while moving to a different country there is a possibility that your electrical items won’t work where you’re going. So it wouldn’t be worth shipping things that won’t work, like DVD’s, TV’s or Video’s if they’re not compatible.
- If you own stuff like swords, flick knives etc and you want to ship them, have in mind that some countries don’t allow the importation of such stuff. The same goes for drugs, toxic substances, plants, alcohol, meat, bulbs or seeds.

Make sure to research different shipping companies with the same requirements for each one, so you are sure for the price you will pay for shipping. We recommend 3 quotations from different companies to have a clear comparison in prices.
Some questions that you should ask these companies are:
- Is there any insurance offered by this company? Don’t forget to see their policy documents.
- Have they been trading for a long time? You want to be sure that they have experience.
- How long will it take for your things to get to the destination and if they need to be stored for a while, how safe will they be?
- Will the company be take care of custom forms?
- Is the quotation fully inclusive of all charges including all the custom clearances?
