Morgan’s Eva GT - a four-seater luxury grand tourer - stole the show at the August 2010, auto show at Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance in Carmel, California. Read this article to find out more about the stunning Eva GT.
Eva GT - the idea for the model was inspired from the UK’s early 1950s sport saloons - can accommodate four people and their luggage. Charles Morgan told Autocar that the car is intended to serve as an everyday family transport, as well as a luxury GT. The rear seats will be comfortable for children and small adults, but could occasionally accommodate taller occupants.
The chassis of Eva GT is the same lightweight bonded aluminium chassis one finds in the Aeromax Supersports, and its’ body is built with the same aluminium panels that are used in the aircraft industry. The luxury car measures 4.7 metres in length, 1.8 metres in width and 1.2 metres in height; inside is a two-plus-two cabin layout. These features make Morgan’s Eva GT much more practical than any of the Aero series that came before it.
Eva GT is powered by a BMW 3-liter straight six engine that uses mono twin turbo and direct injection technologies and develops a total of 306 hp and a maximum torque of 295 lb-ft.
It weighs 1250kg and should be able to get 62mph in around 4.5sec and 170mph. Eva GT comes with a choice of two gearboxes: a six-speed ZF automatic, or six-speed manual.
As appealing to its owners will be its potential day-to-day fuel economy return of 40mpg and modest 200g/km CO2 emissions. Some other features include anti-lock brakes, electronic stability control, xenon headlights, satellite navigation and the latest multi-stage ‘smart’ airbags.
