Heel Spur (Plantar Fasciitis)

Many times our feet are hurting. We take over 5000 steps each day, which means that we walk the equivalent of 3 times around the globe during our life time. Unless their feet are hurting, most people don’t give a second thought to their feet. When our feet are hurting, most of us don’t know how to sooth the pain.

The Plantar Fasciitis, or commonly known as ‘Heel Spur’, is a disease that causes unbearable pain for which many people complaint about, especially women.

But what is Plantar Fasciitis, or Heel Spur?

It is the inflammation of the Plantar Fasciitis, the tendon that connects the back part of the heel with the 4 small toes.
Patients complain about a sharp pain which they experience in the morning when they get out of bed, or when they get up suddenly after they have been sitting on a chair for a long time, after they have been standing for long, or after strenuous walking. Sometimes the pain can get worse, or it can get better after they take a few steps.

However, what is the cause of this pain?

The main cause is weight loss, or weight gain, the alternate use of shoes with hard and then soft sole (and vice versa), the bad function between the bones and muscles which cause disease such as flat feet, high arch, tight calf muscles, arthritis, rheumatic diseases, uneven legs and vigorous exercising which involves running, or walking (marathon races).

How do we treat, then, this difficult disease, which according to medical research the results of previous treatments such as treatment with ice, inflammatory medicine, cortisone injections, immobilization and operation, have a 50% success?

The answer is, with the new revolutionary technology of SHOCKWAVE. We would like to inform you that our center is leading the way once again and has brought to Cyprus this new method. It is a natural method without needles and drugs and without pain. With this method, the patient receives therapeutic vibrations with a special machine on the sore point of the heel for a few minutes.

Usually, 6 to 8 treatments are sufficient to cure the disease, but the therapy depends on the complexity of the disease.

Often, the patient is given special shoe inserts which prevent the pain from coming back and for the correction of the movement mechanics of the heel. In addition, the patient is given important exercises for the stretching of the foot.

Many people suffer from heel spur, and they are often in despair.
