The French press - one of the best ways to make a cup of ‘Joe’.
For coffee lovers craving a café latte but can’t be bothered to visit their local cafe, the way to go is DIY: these days you can choose from a vast array of coffee-making machines available on the market.
Some of the more common types of coffee machines are the automatic, French press, espresso and one-cup automatic machine.
- Electric drip machines use filters to make flavoured coffee, very quickly. The system uses hot water that is poured over the ground coffee inside of a filter. Your fresh gourmet “café” then drips below.
- Espresso machines come in two types. In a manual espresso maker, you press the lever to force hot water through the finely packed coffee grounds, a method that preserves the espresso’s distinct flavour.
- A French press coffee maker is arguably one of the best ways to make a cup of ‘Joe’. In this machine, a mechanism (a fine screen) forces water that is almost at boiling point through finely-ground coffee beans. You can choose between classic French press ports and thermal coffee presses that keep the coffee brew hot and fresh.
- Finally, one-cup automatic machines and programmable coffee makers are becoming all the rage. When you’re in a hurry, whether at home or the office, these gizmos will churn out a ‘professional’ cup of coffee in no time.
